Purpose:   Examine relationships between the Haines Index and the passage or development of synoptic-scale atmospheric patterns.

Objectives:

  1. Use historical data to examine the behavior of the Haines Index during the passage of synoptic fronts for various regions of the United States.
  2. Determine the relationships between such frontal passages and Haines Index, including any regional patterns or dependencies that are discovered.
